Emily

Overview

Emily is a trendy spot nestled in the heart of New York’s West Village, at 35 Downing St, NY 10014. It’s the kind of place that instantly feels like home the moment you step inside. With its inviting atmosphere and a creative menu, Emily stands out not only for its stylish decor but also for its mouthwatering food offerings. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a must-try destination that captures the essence of New York dining.

One of the restaurant’s signature dishes is their famed pizza. It’s no surprise, given that Emily is known for its unique twist on classic flavors. Their “Emily” pizza is a local favorite. Topped with mozzarella, fontina, and a sweet honey drizzle, this pizza strikes the perfect balance between savory and sweet. It’s crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside, providing an experience that has many returning for more.

The restaurant also boasts a great selection of sandwiches. The Emmy burger, which combines perfectly cooked beef with a decadent combination of cheddar, special sauce, and a perfectly toasted bun, is another fan favorite. It’s an iconic example of the restaurant’s ability to elevate traditional American comfort food with a simple yet effective touch of creativity.

As for the sides, don’t skip the roasted Brussels sprouts or the crispy fries-they’re the ideal accompaniment to any meal. The Brussels sprouts, caramelized to perfection, have just the right amount of crunch, and the fries, served with a sprinkle of herbs, are always a crowd-pleaser.

Emily doesn’t stop at food, though. Their drink menu is equally impressive, offering a variety of craft beers, creative cocktails, and wine selections. The bartenders here know their stuff, and the drinks are crafted with the same attention to detail as the food. Whether you’re after something light like a spritz or a robust cocktail to pair with your meal, there’s something on the menu that will complement any dish.

The restaurant’s vibe is laid-back yet sophisticated. Its industrial-chic design makes it feel cozy without being overly formal. The space features warm lighting, wood accents, and open seating that creates an inviting environment for both intimate dinners and group gatherings. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the overall dining experience even more enjoyable.

What’s great about Emily is its ability to draw a crowd yet still feel like a neighborhood gem. The location on Downing St. is the perfect spot for an evening out, whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a casual meal. The consistency in both food quality and service ensures that guests will return time and time again.

A visit to Emily would not be complete without trying one of their dessert options. The cookie skillet, served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, is a dessert that’s both comforting and indulgent, leaving you satisfied without being overwhelmed. It’s a great way to end the meal, and it’s the kind of treat that you’ll be thinking about long after you’ve left.

In terms of its location, Emily is easily accessible in New York City. Whether you’re coming from a nearby neighborhood or making a trip from further away, the restaurant is situated in a prime spot in the West Village, a neighborhood known for its quaint streets and rich history. After your meal, a walk around the area is a perfect way to cap off the evening, offering a quintessential New York experience.

Overall, Emily offers a dining experience that’s both memorable and enjoyable. With a menu that mixes comfort food with inventive twists, a cozy atmosphere, and top-notch service, it’s no wonder why it’s so beloved. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, a burger, or just a place to unwind with a drink, this restaurant delivers on all fronts.

This restaurant is Such great vibes! Personally I like sitting downstairs because it looks so cool down there! This is hands down one of the best burgers you’re gonna have!! I also got the bulgogi fries which were delicious! Tiny bit spicy but not much. This is the 2nd time I’ve been here so that speaks because I don’t often do that.

An amazing burger! Came out super fast - maybe within 10 minutes. Tasted fantastic, balanced well flavored and the pretzel bun is legit. Robert the waiter was super hospitable. Ambiance was pub-ish and I particularly enjoyed that they play radio ads when streaming music haha. Most definitely a mainstay in the burger scene around the city. Eat with confidence

Made a reservation for 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was buzzing. I ordered the Emmy burger and it did not disappoint! It was cooked medium-well (they didn’t ask for a preference, but thankfully that’s how I like it!). The sauce is really what makes this burger special; think of a Big Mac, but 10x better. The waffle fries were also crisp and seasoned to perfection - no condiments needed. Highly recommend! ⭐

We had an incredible experience at Emily! We ordered the burger, and honestly, it might be the best burger in the world—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and unforgettable. The cheesy garlic sticks were absolutely amazing as well—ooey, gooey, and easily the best we’ve ever had. The meatballs were also delicious and full of rich flavor. We sat in the outdoor seating area, which was very comfortable and nicely set up. The staff were extremely friendly, and the service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend this spot—Emily truly delivers on taste, vibe, and hospitality

Only one burger option with an interesting sauce. I didn’t think quality of meat was anything special. It was soft and double stacked. No substituting on burger. Loved the white pizza which is available in gluten free! Added red onions and pepperoni on the four cheese and the hot honey was just right! Not too hot or sweet! Loved the flavor of the cheese and the crispy pepperoni and onions! Will return for the pizzas!

Emily definitely deserves its hype. This spot is absolutely worthy of five stars for the burger. I got the Emmy double stack burger to go, and I can easily say that it is the best thick "non-smashed" burger I've ever had. The pretzel bun works surprisingly well, the patties are cooked perfectly, and the Emmy sauce is the real star, incredibly unique and bursting with flavors. Even though I was already full when I got my order, I still enjoyed every bite, which says alot about how good it was. I also really liked that they do not allow substitution for the burger ingredients, though it would be nice if they offered more side options for those who aren’t fans of the potato wedges. I did take off one star from the service: 1) the bartender not even offering a glass of water while I was waiting for the burger 2) the burger took more than 50 minutes despite being told 30 min 3) the staff could have been more welcoming But even with that I think the Emily definitely worth a visit if you are in New York.

Cute little spot in west village with great service. Larger place than you would think as it has a down stairs. We did group dinner and pretty affordable shared prefix menu. Enjoyed various pizzas, meatballs, and salads. Staff was amazing and food service was quick. Recommend
